These options are independent and can be executed in any sequence. Do let me know if these don't work for you. If not, I will provide further troubleshooting steps to you to solve this problem. Logout of Netflix app and login again. This problem is also caused by Intel Display Driver. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. Andre Da Costa Volunteer Moderator. Windows 10 is a beast. I work with OSX, XP, Win7 and have win10 at home and on my tablet and win10 beats all the others in pretty much ever respect. Desktop PCs don't count. They just don't. Netlix, and just about everything else works great in a browser -- even with touch. There is no need for apps. It's changing.
Developers can do much more with dedicated apps than websites. And it just feels better overall :D Personally, I use dedicated apps for everything I can, and rarely open any browser. And I came from Win 7, where websites in the browser were the only way to make those things work :D. The Web has progressed into such a sophisticated platform that there is almost nothing that can't be done just as well in a browser as in an app. And competition among browser makers is so fierce that the Web, as an application environment, has much better tools available than any alternative platform. Than why are so many developers building ugly, slow and sluggish websites?
But they're not Do you mean windows central type websites? Adding so many ads and trackers that site is totally unusable? Yeah, kinda. That's why I only read WC articles in the app, among many other reasons. Tech blogs are different animals, I think there is a rule for them that websites must suck. Try Firefox with Addblock. You'll love the Web again. It's just better since I use Edge but still sucks. Never loved IE to be honest, it was a POS :D. With HTML5 the web is essentially an application platform. Try using web version of Instagram. Then try post a picture if you can. No, you're the one in the wrong. I am a software engineer. Its FAR easier to develop desktop or rich client applications like app store apps. Every "advancement" in web applications development is yet another band-aid to try and cover the fact that the web was never intended to be an application platform. The only reason the web ever became popular for application development was that it was easier to deliver the application to the end users; which the various app stores have now replicated.
You are partially right, but apps are not where mobile is headed. It is where mobile has been. MSFT, FB, GOOGLE know it and AAPL is as secretive as ever, so hard to tell what they are up to. Think about your phone today - you download dozens of apps, you spend lot of time searching for the right one, then you end up using it twice a year, then you delete it when your phone runs out of space. In reality, most of us use less than dozen apps every day, yet there are millions in the store. App model is flawed, it's been flawed since day one, but it was better than web back then.
Where mobile is headed - as x I'm tc pointed out - is back to the web. Only, it will be a different web. The web you know was a browser you used to view content. The "new" web will make it feel like there is no browser, with ful bleed enge to edge experience, so instead of you downloading the app, it will be a web app, running full screen, hosted on the server and you viewing it in a web browser, without even knowing it, while the server does all teh heavy lifting for you, not your phone. That is where we are headed and that's why I'm not worried about MSFT's app gap as much anymore. They know that the app era is about to yield to something else. Chat bots are only one aspect of the sea of possibilities with web apps. Have you thought that it could be a Framework issue? Not a OS issue, but a. Net Framework issue. For me is a very good reason for the Apps to crash constantly on Windows 10 [write down here your favorite flavor].
I have just been on the Netflix site and it says they are currently having issues streaming on apple, android, and other devices and they are working to resolve issues. So hopefully it is not to do with Windows I have no issues streaming, Me neither. Never have. And on desktop I prefer browser anyway since it has double click for full screen and skipping with arrow keys. I have had Netflix problems for months. For months, on my Xbox One anyhow. I have similar problems with my SmartTV, but not with my W10, W8. Hope the pull out would mean that we will have a better Netflix app and a UWP one. They already have one. But not on mobile. Was pertaining to a true UWP app - all screen sizes. Yep but at least the old app was working fine. And let's not forget it, an UWP app would also work in Continuum. I sent a tweet to Nexflix to explain what's going on Hope for an answer. Shouldn't that be "sent"? Shouldn't that be 'Oh'??!! Edit: After reading responses below, I understand for those who are truly trying to help.
I am Dutch, so 'send' or 'sent' mistakes can happen. I agree totally. And he has also the right to be corrected, so that he can avoid the mistake in the future Nobody is shooting anybody By the way, freedom of speech is a completely different thing I used to be absent from many classrooms, maybe. I missed a philosophy class! I suspect you have missed more than just a philosophy class. You probably right, i guess I'm. Not the best judge on this matter! Nor am I, but I am sure we can agree that when ones make a grammar mistake another should be allowed to correct withouth being judged.
I see it happening a lot and I truly can't see what's wrong with pointing out mistakes in a constructive way. I guess you're right, i was trying. To be funny, but i failed, i better go looking for some POKÉMON! I agree. No problem here. If someone wants to correct me, thats fine. Somebody bump this post. Works on PC and Mobile. I don't really use Netflix so at the moment I'm not that bothered, but I do have Flixter, the only issue is that the full service is not available outside the USA, why? They could surprise us and launch the Windows 10 Mobile app :D Posted via the Windows Central App for Android. I thought it was UWP already. Wasn't it one of the first to have continuum support? UWP doesn't automatically mean mobile.
Yes true but I mentioned continuum which is. I dont think theyre leaving. I think its just more of a security reason. If I remember correctly, Netflix is one of the companies that has some partnership with MS. Their CEO sat on MS board Reed Hastings. Works fine for me. Duh, nm it was through my PlayStation. Checked my phone works fine on the droid and my pc with w Dammit and just when I signed up to it again. Hope its not too serious. It is not the build. I am on the latest Fast track and watch on PC and my Finished an episode just this morning and signed in just now to test. No problem. I have noticed despite a nice looking update on Xbox , it freezes. I just checked: the app works on my Lumia XL, but crashes on my Surface Pro I assume that the app on my Xbox One still works. Just saying can't blame the OS update. This is far more complicated than "Microsoft broke this,"though it has happened before Tweetium.
How hard is to make W10 app?!? I'm not developer nor I don't have any knowledge in programming but is seems that it's nearly impossible! I really don't like Windows 10's UX. And I'm still in development of desktop apps. UWP never attracted me that much. But it's nice to have. It's not that hard, not that easy. You can make a basic app with html and JavaScript easily in UWP. So I don't know more about it. As far as I know is all about Windows 8's API. But still Desktop is my preference. Well it still works on my nokia lumia here in australia and it works fine. Still works fine for me. Its back in the store. My Netflix works fine on the latest builds. Netflix has been ruined fine on my tablet, , and Surface pro 4. Hulu has also been working fine too. The app was not UWP but they kept it pretty up to date; they even implemented the new branding only weeks after the iDroid counterparts.
What the hell is going on with these apps randomly disappearing then coming back? First BBM, then Amex, now Netflix? Is this a resubmission thing for the store? Or is it an issue on MSFT's side? It's the transition between 8. It's way more justifyable to keep a person or a team working on a Windows 10 app than a 8. Could this be a sign that they're working on the UWP? That's long overdue. In any case, the app always worked well for me, even when I tend to use the browser version which looks slightly better design wise. Also I never understood why the web version doesn't run on mobile's Edge, thus making it impossible to watch Netflix on Continuum which would be a natural thing to do.
tl;dr: Netflix, get your act together. Windows is becoming dead by day by day. Just contacted netflix support. There were issues on W10? I have it on my XL and it has never given me an issue. Is it still available on WP8. I just downloaded it from the Store. I can still see it in the Windows 10 store on PC. so can I just to way in on this trend here I have been told it has disappeared not here it hasn't. I must be lucky, I can find and install the Netflix app, just checked and it's still there in the store. I checked and it's still in the store. If you look in the category "TV Central", it's there. If you search by name, it doesn't show.
It's probably just a store glitch. Works on my Xbox, but my L hasn't been able to open app for long time. Just exits after few. Reinstall no help. I see it in the Store as well, though I already have it installed. Returned, or never left? I sometimes get a similar screen when WiFi fails in w They broke the mobile app on Windows 10 so I guess are working out a fix. For me, running on the just instantly crashed. Uninstalled, reinstalled and crash. So it definitely needed a fix. What Build are you on? On the latest Fast Insider ring it works on my Working fine as usual on my Lxl. Working great on my XL as well. Interesting it must have been pulled overnight because I was looking at it in the store last night on my tablet. Maybe there is hope for a UWP version of Netflix. Isn't your tablet running "full" PC SKU of Windows 10, which has a UWP app already?
Also, If you have one of those small tablets running W10M I'm jealous - They seem few and far between but TBH I think it would be great, I mainly use things like Wunderlist, Email, Web which all would work well on a W10M tablet. Sorry, should have clarrified, hoping for UWP version for the phone. and yes my tablet HP stream 7 is running full x that'll teach me for writing too early in the morning:. Works for me on my xl. It takes 21 seconds to open in my L! Not good Well mine was always working correctly. But good to read it is back on the store. What is this link??? It's there, it's back. That is interesting. It's available on the Store in Brazil - maybe it's a local issue. Just last week I was out of town and used edge and continuum to watch Netflix. Worked flawlessly. Just used it last night. Worked great! Maybe they are releasing a UWP app. My app on both mobile and PC have been working just fine Rumor is the UFO that forced NASA to cut the ISS live feed a few days back neared the orbit of one of Netflix's satelite and used a tractor beam to drag it to Nubiro.
By the time they reach their destination, seasons of OitNB will be available for the ultimate Netflix and chill session. Disappeared from what? I still see this in both the PC and Mobile stores. Still crashes every time I try to open it on my Lumia XL tho In the dutch store i se no Netflix. Still working on my xl. I see in in the Store at ET. Windows 10 Mobile. The app works fine for me on both PC and mobile. They pulled the app yesterday and now it is back again. I think people are missing the point. The app is in the store, but it does not show up when doing a search. FWIW, it works fine on my Lumia XL. App didn't open yesterday night. Now they published it again. It was down only for few hours. Most of them didn't notice it as it is down only for brief period of time. What were the issues?
It's always worked fine on my pc Posted via the Windows Central App for Android. In Latvia Netflix app is available in Windows Store. Please update this post. The app is back on both mobile and PC. I do not see it in my store. It doesn't work on my Lumia XL.. Won't even launch. Has always worked fine on my XL. having it the way it currently is just makes it no different from how things were pre windows 10 with separate disparate fragmented apps. Why call them that? Because they're apps built using the Universal Windows Platform. Developers still need to create the UI for each respective device or else the usability of the app would be terrible. You might not see a difference becuase you're not supposed to, it's for developers.
It is not working on my Lumia Don't even find the in Store. This app does not work at all in my Lumia XL. It shows the logo for a few seconds and then the app crashes. I can only use netflix via Edge when on my phone. This is weird, that nobody else is complaining about that, it use to happen to me with Uber, but after some updates the app now works. Every time Netflix updates the app I expect to see a fix, but nothing happens different. Same issue for me. If I click on the tile the App tries to load but craches after few seconds. But I can open it from App list instead of tile. But videos are not playing.
Getting error message while trying to load video. Alan Cantillo M I also have the same problem on my XL We seem to be the only two. No, go to the forums. Tons of people are having problems. Hasn't worked on my Alcatel in almost two months, it tries to load, then backs out. The fix for that is when the splash screen for netflix appears press the start button before the app crashes. Then, go into your multitasing menu and go back to Netflix. It should open then. Worked for me. Thanks, I'll try it. Sorry it didn't work for you. I had read it on a different article and tried it as I was having the same problem and it worked for me without a hitch. Good luck to you. Maybe an update will be released soon to fix it for eceryone. Thanks but that did not work for me. That's nice to know. Now stop being so dramatic. The sky is not falling, evidently there was a problem. Mine is working. Mine is working too on mobile,pc,tablet and xbox.
Sadly, the app hasn't worked on my L in weeks and still doesn't. It is about as useful on my phone as the Insteon app at the moment. Open Netflix then go back to your home screen when the Netflix splash screen comes up then open it again. Not sure why this works, but it does. Well, I will be darned. It does work! If only it worked on Insteon, too! As for Insteon, have you contacted them about it? It's worth a shot, I suppose. Worked for me also!!!! It works on my Lumia after. i did a hard reset. People having issues with Netflix in iOS App Store. Still crashes at the splash screen on my Same on my xl. Replying again because I found the workaround in another thread. Launch Netflix, when you see the logo, hit the start button.
Ask a new question. I have no idea if what I'm getting ready to post actually was or is the solution in my case, because it doesn't make any sense at all. I have 2 graphics cards on my laptop. One integrated Intel , and NVIDIA dedicated graphics. The latter I use only with a few apps, e. photo editing software, etc. I have never assigned the Netflix app to run on that card, and that is still the case. After running across a reddit thread that suggested NVIDIA's GeForce Experience software might be creating a DRM conflict in certain apps like Netflix and Groove Music, which in turn caused performance failures, I decided to go check my GeForce settings. Apparently I never installed the last GeForce update I never use it, not a gamer and it's geared for gamers so that's probably why. After it installed and launched, I logged in, checked settings, and couldn't really see anything relevant as described in some of the reddit posts.
I then disconnected from the internet and opened the Netflix app to see if somehow, magically, and although it should have NOTHING to do with GeForce or the NVIDIA card, if downloads would play offline. And, they did! I downloaded some other content, went offline, spot checked, and it seems to be working now. And the app is STILL not using the NVIDIA card for playback. Really strange. If anyone else does the same above and it works or does not work , please post back. I'm on Windows 10 version Fall Creators Update 64 bit. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Search the community and support articles Windows Windows 10 Search Community member. I download episodes and movies onto my Netflix app on Windows 10, the app and the computer are completely updated, and everything looks fine. But when I go to play one of my offline things, there's no play button for me to click on, and I can't play anything.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any idea how to fix it? I've tried going directly to the file location where the download is stored and trying to launch it in Netflix but i can't do that. It's really frustrating to expect this to work right and then it doesn't. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.
